I love being an FM missionary because we have such a variety of experiences. No two days are alike. In the winter we clean up plants in the greenhouse, wash pots, make cuttings for new plants, and start seeds. Outside we continue to clean up and cut back old plants, rake leaves, and pick up sticks around Nauvoo. One Elder observed that Nauvoo has self-pruning trees. They drop their branches sometimes more readily than they drop their leaves.

This week I started working 4 days in the sites, and 1 day in FM. The mission is very small this winter and there aren't enough missionaries to keep all of the sites open, so after the Fall rush, Jordan released the grounds crew to work in the sites. Jordan is over all the FM. He works closely with the mission presidents, coordinating the efforts here in Nauvoo to keep it beautiful and functioning.
Monday I worked at Brigham Young's house and the Riser Boot store. I practiced demonstrating how to make a boot. Tuesday I worked at FM. Wednesday, today, I'll be at Lucy Mack Smith's home.

I've been to where the Saints crossed when leaving Nauvoo many times but never noticed this flat boat until Tuesday. It is the type of boat the Saints used to leave Nauvoo. |
