Dee saw the doctor this morning about his carpal tunnel syndrome. Surgery will be sometime "soon". Afterwards we had to choose between seeing the world's largest wooden nickel, or seeing the site where the handcart pioneers assembled before heading west. Guess which one we chose?
It was a peaceful place, but I could imagine the scene of 2,000 immigrants, speaking different languages, getting their handcarts ready, sending children for water in the river, cooking over their fires. There is an unmarked burial ground. It's a lovely place.

Elder Barrow near the pioneer campsite. Behind him is a gorge with a small river. We think they camped in this gorge near the water. The land down there is very wide. |
